About the role

Sumi-Tech Industrial Supplies Sdn Bhd is seeking a Purchasing Executive to join our dynamic team in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position based at our office location. As a Purchasing Executive, you will play a vital role in our supply chain operations, responsible for sourcing, procuring and managing inventory of industrial supplies and materials. This position is fundamental to ensuring our organisation maintains efficient procurement processes, optimal inventory levels, and strong supplier relationships that directly impact our operational success and profitability.

Key responsibilities

1. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing and delivery schedules to secure the best value for the organisation

2. Prepare purchase orders and manage the procurement process from requisition through to delivery and invoice reconciliation

3. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to ensure adequate stock availability whilst minimising excess inventory

4. Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing suppliers, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery and pricing

5. Compare quotations from multiple vendors and conduct cost-benefit analysis to support purchasing decisions

6. Track purchase orders, expedite delayed deliveries and resolve supply chain disruptions promptly

7. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements

8. Collaborate with other departments including operations, warehouse and finance to forecast demand and plan procurement schedules

9. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function

10. Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance and inventory metrics for management review

What we're looking for

1. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement or a related field

2. 2-3 years of proven experience in a purchasing, procurement or inventory management role, preferably within the manufacturing, industrial supplies or logistics sector

3. Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control principles

4. Proficiency in using procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Microsoft Office applications

5. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to achieve cost-effective purchasing decisions

6. Strong analytical and numerical skills for evaluating supplier quotations and managing budgets

7. Outstanding organisational and time management abilities to handle multiple purchase orders and suppliers simultaneously

8. Effective communication skills in both written and verbal English, with the ability to liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders

9. Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining procurement documentation and records

10. Problem-solving capabilities and flexibility to adapt to changing supply chain demands

11. Preferred: Experience with supplier quality management and certification standards relevant to industrial supplies
