Senior Backend Java Developer (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST API, Kafka, Kubernetes)

  • Hybrid Work: Yes
  • Location: Bukit Jalil (Hybrid)
  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Java Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Java development experience with strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Microservices Architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native technologies.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems while working with modern technologies including Kafka/RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL Server, MongoDB, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based microservices.
  • Build and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
  • Develop secure and high-performance RESTful APIs.
  • Design and optimize database solutions using SQL Server and MongoDB.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and identity management solutions using Okta/Auth0.
  • Develop event-driven applications using messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Implement containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline configuration and DevOps practices.
  • Configure cloud services including object storage, databases, key vaults, and related cloud resources.
  • Develop unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable financial/payment-related systems.
  • Support document management, reporting, and data analytics functionalities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
  • Strong experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining Microservices Architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of REST API development.
  • Proficient in SQL Server and relational database concepts.
  • Experience with MongoDB is an added advantage.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization technologies such as Okta or Auth0.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ or other messaging systems.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and cloud infrastructure configuration.
  • Strong understanding of software testing practices and mocking frameworks (Mockito).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in payment systems or financial technology (FinTech).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
