Our client, a well-established company in the financial services industry, is looking for an experienced Python Backend Tech Lead to join its growing technology team based in Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who is passionate about backend engineering, system architecture, and team development. You will lead a team of backend developers while remaining actively involved in designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems that support enterprise-level applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading a technology, engineering, or product development team.
• Proven experience mentoring, managing, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, and design patterns.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software quality assurance principles.
• Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices.
• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Experience developing microservices and deploying containerised applications.
• Experience building WebSocket-based systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration tools.
• Basic frontend development knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of web security standards and best practices.
• Experience in code optimisation and backend performance tuning.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the backend engineering team while remaining actively involved in Python development.
• Define technical specifications, system architecture, and development workflows aligned with engineering best practices.
• Design, develop, and optimise scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.
• Present technical solutions, system designs, and implementation strategies to technical leadership and stakeholders.
• Mentor, coach, and develop backend engineers to strengthen technical capability and team performance.
• Ensure software solutions meet quality, scalability, security, maintainability, and performance standards.
• Conduct code reviews, identify technical improvements, and promote coding best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and collaborate with the team to deliver effective solutions.
• Drive system performance optimisation and maintain reliable backend services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions involving microservices, backend infrastructure, and system integrations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional responsibilities as required.

Pay: Up to RM16,000.00 per month
