Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Applications Engineer with Universal Instruments Corporation, located in Bayan Lepas.
Provides application engineering support to the customer base in SEA, in conjunction with the regional sales and service organizations, and product management.
This position reports directly to GM SEA in Malaysia. The position will be based in Malaysia.
The role involves working closely with customers to solve complex problems and improve their manufacturing processes.
Application support (pre-sales) related:
1. Works directly with sales, channel partners and direct customers on all pre-sale support through in-depth technical review and/or validation of each of the sales lead/opportunities through out the sales cycle.
2. Manage the RFQ process for special/unique request (HW, SW, tooling) by evaluating customer requirement and work closely with central apps and product group to determine a clear go/no-go decision.
3. Craft and present a concise written pre-sales value proposition of the offered solution(s) addressing customer requirements accurately ensuring a competitive offer from both price and performance viewpoint.
4. Assists product group in defining market needs for new products features and enhancements. Provides valuable input for the development of new equipment specifications and product performance requirements.
5. Require to have regular customer site meetings and online conference call supporting each of the sales leads and opportunities.
Technical support (aftermarket) related :
1. Supports the aftermarket process and/or application related issues due to change of process, product, revision, NPI, etc.
2. Assists/supports field engineers and customers via telephone, FAX, email, or correspondence to resolve mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and software problems associated with the operation, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of UIC products.
3. Analyzes reports of technical problems to identify trends affecting future design, production, service and maintenance processes; may recommend design or process modifications to avoid future problems.
4. Communicate regularly with technical specialists, product teams and central engineering in Binghamton regarding outstanding field issues. Provides recommendations for solutions to field product issues.
5. Visits customer sites to either collect data on improvements to UIC products, gain feedback from customers on outstanding product issues, assist field engineering, or to provide technical assistance or training.
6. Maintains up-to-date product documentation on assigned products. Responsible for keeping abreast of product improvements for problem resolutions and technical details of new product introductions. Communicates information to sales and field organization.
