A well-established food manufacturing company is looking for a Steam Engineer for their plant in Johor.

My client is a well-established company in the food manufacturing industry in Malaysia, recognised for delivering high-quality products to global markets. They are now looking for a Steam Engineer to oversee the operation and maintenance of the water tube boiler and ensure adherence to safety standards for their manufacturing plant in Johor. The job scope included supporting, maintaining and operation of plants and offices, utilities, mechanical related equipment and machines.

Your new role

• Oversee boiler, utilities, and mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation, including supervision, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  
• Manage regulatory requirements by coordinating with DOSH, DOE, and other authorities, ensuring emission standards, CEMS performance, and safety compliance are consistently met.
  
• Drive improvements in plant equipment through upgrades, design modifications, and process enhancements while maintaining accurate documentation and drawings.
  
• Monitor energy use, fuel efficiency, and budget spending, and identify cost‑saving or resource‑saving initiatives.
  
• Supervise contractors, plan maintenance activities, support troubleshooting, and ensure all work aligns with safety programmes, GMP, and 5S standards.
  

What you'll need to succeed

• Professional Certificate / Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  
• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in engineering utilities management in a manufacturing environment.
  
• Competent Steam Engineer Grade 2 issued by DOSH.
  
• Experience operating or supervising others who operate fired pressure systems (boilers) or other large combustion systems.
  
• Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning and/or maintenance execution is desired.
