Job Summary

The South Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation. The chef ensures efficient kitchen operations, consistency in taste, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, vada, uttapam, pongal, sambar, rasam, chutneys, biryanis, and curries to meet quality and taste standards
• Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dishes served
• Prepare ingredients, batters, spice blends, and sauces accurately according to recipes
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen following food safety regulations and standards
• Monitor food stock levels and assist in ordering and managing inventory to avoid shortages
• Minimize food waste by applying proper storage and handling techniques for ingredients
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Develop new menu items and seasonal specials to enhance the menu offering when required
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff to maintain kitchen efficiency and quality
• Work efficiently during busy service periods to meet customer expectations and service timelines

Required competencies and certifications

• Proven experience as a South Indian cook in a restaurant or catering establishment
• Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
• Ability to prepare a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian South Indian dishes
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
• Obtained Food Safety certification
