Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer role based in Bayan Lepas. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for low-voltage switchgear and related systems, ensuring safety, manufacturability, and compliance with relevant standards. Daily responsibilities include creating and updating 3D models and detailed drawings in CAD, preparing bills of materials, and collaborating with electrical, production, and quality teams to refine designs. The role involves supporting prototype builds, addressing design issues from the shop floor, and implementing design improvements based on testing, feedback, and cost or performance targets. The engineer will also assist in documentation, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and product consistency.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with applied experience in Design Engineering.
• Proficiency in Machine Design and Product Design, ideally for industrial or power distribution equipment.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications, with attention to detail and safety.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, production, project) in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple design tasks, and meet project timelines.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and practices for switchgear, enclosures, or similar mechanical assemblies is an advantage.
