Position: Senior Data Engineer

Employment Type: Permanent with Apar

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Working Arrangement: Onsite 5 days a week (Monday - Friday)

Working Hours in MY time: 9AM - 6PM

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to provide strategic guidance on enterprise data platforms, architecture, and engineering best practices. Partner with business and technology teams to drive data platform modernization, governance, scalability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on enterprise data architecture, data lakes, data warehouses, and platform strategy.
  • Provide guidance on data pipelines, ETL/ELT, orchestration, streaming, and automation best practices.
  • Review data integration, governance, security, and platform scalability solutions.
  • Support architecture reviews, risk assessments, and technical governance across project lifecycles.
  • Mentor engineering teams and promote modern data engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on data platform roadmaps and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Data Platform Consulting.
  • Expertise in data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, data governance, Apache Airflow/NiFi, Apache Kafka, and Python, PowerShell, Bash, or YAML.
  • Experience advising on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, MongoDB, HBase, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills; relevant Cloud, Data Engineering, or Big Data certifications are a plus.

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM18,000.00 per month
