Mold DesignerJob Summary
We are looking for a Mold Designer to support the design and development of precision molds for manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, mold assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOM), while ensuring designs meet quality, manufacturability, and project timeline requirements. This role also works closely with production and internal teams to resolve design-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design plastic molds using 3D CAD software and prepare detailed 2D engineering drawings.
- Prepare mold component drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Ensure mold designs are accurate, manufacturable, and completed within project schedules.
- Review and verify mold parting lines, cutting lines, and design details before mold fabrication.
- Support production by troubleshooting mold design issues and providing technical solutions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Improve CNC programming strategies to enhance machining efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
- Maintain proper documentation and update design records.
- Comply with company quality, safety, and housekeeping standards, including ISO 9001, 5S, and workplace safety requirements.
Job Requirements
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Tool & Die, or a related discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience in mold design or a related engineering field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plastic mold design concepts.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or AutoCAD).
- Ability to prepare 2D engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Able to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Pay: RM1,453.33 - RM3,000.00 per month
