Business Analyst / QA Engineer
Fill'd Pty Ltd · Full-Time
Fill'd is an Australian aged care marketplace connecting caregivers and clients to deliver more efficient home care. We are looking for a detail-oriented Business Analyst / QA Engineer to join our product and engineering team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical delivery — translating complex care-sector workflows into clear specifications and ensuring every feature that ships meets a high bar for quality.
Core Responsibilities
- Requirements Analysis & Documentation: Work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements. Translate these into clear process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature specifications that the development team can build from without ambiguity.
- Process Modelling: Produce and maintain Business Process Documents (BPDs) covering end-to-end workflows — including swimlane diagrams, decision flows, and entity relationship overviews — to ensure shared understanding across product, engineering, and operations.
- QA Planning & Test Design: Design test plans, test cases, and test scripts covering functional, regression, integration, and UAT scenarios. Ensure every feature is tested against documented acceptance criteria before release.
- Testing: Execute manual testing across web and mobile platforms.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track defects through their full lifecycle — from discovery to closure — using structured bug reports with clear reproduction steps, severity classifications, and root-cause categorisation.
- API & Integration Testing: Validate backend services and third-party integrations through API testing, ensuring data integrity, correct behaviour across service boundaries, and compliance with agreed interface contracts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and operations stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment — participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and UAT sessions.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in documentation, test coverage, or process clarity and proactively propose improvements to reduce requirements misinterpretation and defect rates across the delivery lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Business Analysis: Proven experience understanding and documenting requirements, producing process flows, and writing acceptance criteria for software products. Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- QA & Testing: Hands-on experience in manual testing across web and mobile applications, including functional, regression, smoke, and integration testing. Familiarity with structured defect tracking and test case management tools.
- API Testing: Experience testing RESTful APIs, including validation of endpoints, data payloads, error handling, and integration behaviour.
- Documentation: Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured documentation — including requirements documents, test plans, UAT packs, and user manuals
- Agile Delivery: Comfortable working within Agile/Scrum teams. Experience participating in sprint ceremonies and managing work items.
- Attention to Detail: Methodical approach to both requirements review and defect identification. Able to spot inconsistencies between documented requirements and implemented behavior and articulate them precisely.
- Self-Driven: Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of quality outcomes in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.
Nice to Have
- Process Modelling Tools: Experience using UML, BPMN, or swimlane diagramming tools to produce formal process models.
- Technical Fluency: Basic understanding of how web applications work — including frontend/backend separation, APIs, and databases — sufficient to write precise technical requirements and reproduce defects accurately.
- Automated Testing: Experience with test automation frameworks such as Katalon Studio, Selenium, Cypress, or similar, with the ability to build and maintain regression suites.
- Data Validation: Experience validating data integrity across relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) as part of integration or backend testing.
- Exposure to marketplace or platform products where multiple user types (e.g. providers, administrators, workers) interact within a shared system.
