Role Description:

The Senior Business Development Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and growing revenue across Malaysiakini’s media and digital products. Day-to-day responsibilities include prospecting and engaging potential clients, preparing and delivering sales presentations, negotiating and closing deals, and maintaining strong relationships with existing partners. The executive will collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, and product teams to design tailored solutions and packages that meet client needs. The role also involves monitoring market trends, analyzing performance data, and recommending initiatives to expand Malaysiakini’s commercial footprint.

Qualifications

• Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
• Experience in relationship-building, stakeholder management, and partnership development within media, advertising, or related industries.
• Solid communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers at various levels.
• Analytical and strategic thinking abilities, including market research, opportunity assessment, and proposal development.
• Good organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple initiatives and deadlines.
• Comfort with digital media, online advertising, and data-driven approaches to business development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in media, publishing, or digital platforms is an advantage; familiarity with the Malaysian market is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team and uphold ethical and non-discriminatory practices.
