Associate Trainers (Music Programmes)

Mastereign is one of Singapore’s leading holistic education and training providers. We partner with schools to deliver engaging and well-structured music programmes that help students develop foundational skills, musical appreciation, creativity, teamwork, and confidence in performance.

We are expanding our pool of freelance Associate Trainers and welcome music educators, performers, instructors, and practitioners who are passionate about working with children and youth.

You do not need to conduct every programme listed. Trainers may specialise in one or more instruments, vocal disciplines, or music programme areas. Assignments will be matched according to your qualifications, experience, strengths, and availability.

Your Role

As an Associate Trainer, you will:

• Conduct engaging music programmes in schools
• Teach students of different ages and ability levels
• Manage both small and large groups confidently
• Teach fundamental music skills, including basic theory, technique, rhythm, listening, and performance
• Demonstrate the appropriate use of instruments, equipment, and digital music tools
• Guide students through individual and group practice
• Encourage creativity, confidence, collaboration, and musical expression
• Develop students’ appreciation for different musical genres and traditions
• Follow and adapt prepared lesson plans and programme materials where necessary
• Use appropriate teaching resources in an engaging manner
• Prepare students for performances, recitals, showcases, or competitions where applicable
• Monitor students’ participation and progress
• Provide appropriate feedback to teachers and programme coordinators
• Maintain a safe, positive, and well-organised learning environment
• Represent Mastereign professionally when engaging schools, teachers, students, and parents

Practising musicians, former educators, music graduates, and individuals with relevant teaching or performance experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Certifications

Applicants should preferably have:

• Relevant practical or theory qualifications in music
• Recognised music certifications such as ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool, or equivalent
• Relevant qualifications in Music, Music Education, Performance, Composition, or a related discipline
• Experience teaching one or more instruments, vocal disciplines, or digital music applications

The following will be an advantage:

• NAC-NIE Certificate in Essentials of Teaching and Learning
• Arts and Music Instructor Scheme certification
• Other recognised music education or instructor qualifications
• A performance, teaching, or programme portfolio

Requirements

Applicants should:

• Be proficient in at least one relevant instrument, vocal discipline, or digital music area
• Be passionate about music education and working with students
• Have relevant teaching, performance, facilitation, or training experience
• Be comfortable teaching children and youth across different age groups
• Be able to manage and engage both small and large groups
• Be confident, cheerful, patient, and able to communicate clearly
• Be self-driven, energetic, resourceful, creative, and responsible
• Be willing to follow programme requirements, safeguarding practices, and school guidelines
• Be available for assignments during school hours on weekdays, generally between 7.00am and 3.00pm
• Be open to selected weekend assignments where required
• Have valid authorisation to work in Singapore
• Project a positive and professional image when working with schools

Experience conducting school programmes, CCAs, music workshops, camps, performances, or competitions will be an advantage.

Applicants without extensive school-based experience may still apply if they demonstrate strong musical ability, facilitation potential, and a willingness to learn.

MOE Instructor Registration

Applicants should preferably be registered as instructors with the Ministry of Education.

Applicants who are not yet registered may still apply. We can provide guidance and assistance with the registration process, subject to eligibility and prevailing MOE requirements.

Trainer Engagement Details

• Freelance and project-based assignments
• Engagements are remunerated on an hourly or project basis
• Flexible scheduling based on programme requirements and trainer availability
• Sessions are conducted in person at schools and approved programme venues in Singapore
• Most assignments take place during weekday school hours
• Selected weekend assignments may also be available
• Trainers may specialise in one or more instruments or programme areas
• Assignments are matched based on qualifications, experience, location, programme needs, and availability
