The Role:

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our QA / Software Development team in Malaysia. This role is hands on, combining automation engineering with practical testing. You’ll own the frameworks, automated suites and CI execution while working alongside the QA team on feature, exploratory and release testing.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build and evolve our Python test automation framework.
• Automate backend data pipelines, Kafka event chains, APIs and service contracts.
• Maintain focused UI user-journey automation using Playwright or Selenium.
• Own test execution within CI/CD, including reporting, parallelism, failure handling and suite health.
• Reduce flaky tests and improve test cycle and feedback times.
• Test features alongside the QA team and turn defects into reliable regression coverage.
• Use AI coding tools in a practical, controlled and review-led way.
• Develop the automation capability of other QAs through pairing, code reviews and coaching.

What You'll Need:

• Strong, current Python, including OOP, design patterns and maintainable code.
• Advanced pytest experience, including fixtures, parameterisation, markers, plugins and parallel execution.
• Proven experience building or substantially extending a test automation framework.
• Strong test-design, exploratory-testing and risk-based prioritisation skills.
• Experience owning automated test stages within CI/CD pipelines.
• API, service-level and contract-testing experience across microservices.
• Experience validating event-driven or message-based systems such as Kafka.
• Knowledge of mocks, stubs, fakes and service virtualisation.
• UI automation experience with Playwright and/or Selenium.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis across product, test, framework and infrastructure.
• The ability to take an ambiguous problem, understand the wider system and develop a practical solution.
