Job Description

Responsibilities

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following

attributes and qualifications:

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Project Management Certificate is a plus.

2. Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience with a proven track record in delivering multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, particularly in infrastructure, industrial, and construction sectors.
  • Minimum 3 years as Project Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design, site development, and project execution for civil works.
  • Familiarity with material handling systems and foundation requirements for industrial facilities.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical aspects in civil engineering projects.

3. Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. MS Projects)
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven understanding of HSE regulations and industry standards.
  • Ability to work in fast pace and multicultural environment.
  • Project Engineering, Procurement management, Construction Management, or Project Planning is a plus.

Key Focus Areas The Role Will Include:

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor all related to Department Engineering and Quantity Surveyor (Head of Technical Team)
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project progress report and directly reported to the Managing Director.
  • To report and present the project progress to Managing Director once every two weeks.
  • Track and monitor project progress to ensure alignment with the project plan and report to Managing Director.
  • Work with the QS Department on matters related to project budgeting, claim submission, rationalization, build-up rates, and VO rates for all projects and report directly to the Managing Director.
  • Ensure that the Site Supervisor provides daily site progress photos in the designated group for project admin record purposes and for updating the company profile.
  • Identify delays, issues, and risks, and escalate them to the site supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all project activities.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams including engineering consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Take ownership, drive the team, encourage new ideas within the project environment.
  • Ensure team is focused on project outcome and goals by managing and resolving conflicts.
  • Execute tasks and instructions assigned by the Managing Director.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.

Engineering

1. Project Planning and Execution

  • Lead end to end management of projects from options analysis to project execution, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop Scope Statement, Project Cost Estimate, and relevant project governance document in line with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with project objective, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Able to collaborate with and manage several cross functional team members to develop project scope and design.
  • Be agile and manage changes with an effective and productive manner.
  • Collaborate with team members, cross functional teams, contractors, and consultants to develop accurate project schedules.
  • Develop mitigation plan or recovery plan to any issue arise in every project.
  • Attend and participate in every meeting on site or in the office if required.

Quantity Surveyor

1. Project Budgeting and Cost Management

  • Manage to identify cost drivers and associated risks.
  • Understand financial risk and be able to develop a financial continency plan.
  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyor and management for finalization of estimates.
  • Be able to communicate cost estimates to stakeholders with detailed explanation.
  • Manage and control project cost during execution of the project.

2. Procurement and Contract Management

  • Work closely with the QS team to develop and negotiate various contracts.
  • Collaborate with consultants to develop detailed tender packages.
  • Drive equipment and vendor selection process.
  • Timely procurement of equipment and services to meet project timeline.
  • Manage contracts and effectively resolve disputes and claims.
  • Manage equipment quality and expedition process.
  • Promote low-cost country sourcing.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory safety standards and requirements.
  • Work with site engineer to ensure project work is executed in a compliant manner.
  • Manage, document and report safety incidents and near misses, including good catches.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment (HSE) regulations.

Safety

1. Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and safety standards and requirements.
  • Work with site engineer, site team, and Quantity Surveyor to ensure project work is executed in a compliant manner.
  • Manage, document and report safety incidents and near misses, including good catches
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environment (HSE) regulations.
  • Manage to identify, assess, and manage project risk, including technical, financial and operational challenges.
  • Manage to develop risk and opportunity matrix for the project to address potential issues.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
