Ambiguous is a lighting design studio driven by eco-centric values, based in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo, led by award-winning lighting designer Yusuke Hattori. Our aim is to improve the natural environment, including humans, through light and lighting, advocating for a shift toward nature-centred thinking. We practice Regenerative Lighting Design, which goes beyond sustainability by creating positive rather than merely minimizing negative impacts. Our approach integrates environmental, social, and economic considerations to enhance natural and human systems. We collaborate with diverse groups to explore innovative uses and experiences with light.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Lighting Designer located in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta or Japan, with an option for some work-from-home arrangements. The Lighting Designer will be responsible for creating lighting designs, implementing lighting control systems, collaborating with architectural and interior design teams, and ensuring that lighting enhances both aesthetic and environmental objectives. Daily tasks include developing lighting concepts, producing technical drawings, conducting site visits, and coordinating with project stakeholders to achieve design goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in Lighting Design
• Interested in Lighting Design
• Proficiency in Architecture or Interior Design and integrating lighting with architectural elements
• Strong passion of sustainable and regenerative design principles
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a hybrid work environment
• Experience in eco-centric or sustainable design is a plus
