Backup Engineer – Veritas/Veeam

Location: Kuala Lumpur (Onsite)

Salary: Up to RM20,000/month

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Backup Engineer to manage, support, and optimize enterprise backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup administration, migration, capacity planning, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise backup environments using Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Deploy, configure, and support backup infrastructure and execute backup migration projects.
• Perform backup capacity planning, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support day-to-day BAU operations and resolve backup failures to ensure successful backup and recovery.
• Manage disk and tape storage solutions (Dell, ExaGrid, IBM, Quantum preferred).
• Develop SOPs, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
• Support change, incident, and problem management activities.
• Work with Infrastructure and Network teams to validate backup connectivity and network requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise backup administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Experience with backup infrastructure, migration, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of disk and tape storage technologies (Dell, ExaGrid, IBM, or Quantum preferred).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, firewall rules, routing, and DWDM.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred: Veritas, Veeam, or ITIL certifications are an added advantage.
