Company Description Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar is a new 186-bed multi-disciplinary hospital located in the busy city centre of Alor Setar, Kedah, within the Mergong area. The hospital is in the final stages of construction and is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2024. It will host a team of 44 consultants across a broad range of specialties, supported by skilled nurses and allied health professionals. The hospital is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to the local community and to individuals from neighboring districts and states, including Perlis, Langkawi, Sungai Petani, and Penang.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Urologic Surgeon role based at Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar in Alor Setar, Kedah. The Urologic Surgeon will provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with urologic conditions, including performing open, endoscopic, and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, ward rounds, and participating in operating theater lists. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, developing individualized treatment plans, ensuring accurate documentation, and contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives. The surgeon will also participate in on-call coverage, provide education to junior medical staff, and support community outreach or hospital programs as needed.
Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Medicine and clinical decision-making, with demonstrated competence in managing complex urologic cases.
  • Advanced skills in Urology and Surgery, including diagnostic evaluation, operative management, and perioperative care.
  • Experience or training in Robotic Surgery and minimally invasive urologic techniques, or a strong interest in developing these skills.
  • Competence or interest in Pediatric Urology, including the evaluation and management of urologic conditions in children.
  • Recognized medical degree and postgraduate qualification in Urology or equivalent, with relevant specialist registration or eligibility.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, or supervision of junior clinicians, and participation in audits or quality improvement is an advantage.
