About the Role

At Millipede, we're seeking a highly experienced and influential engineer to significantly impact the entire lifecycle of our software and applications. You'll play a crucial role in shaping our technical direction, ensuring our solutions are robust, scalable, and built with our users firmly in mind. This position is for someone passionate about driving technical excellence, fostering a collaborative environment, and making a significant contribution to product innovation from concept to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the technical aspects across the entire software development lifecycle, from initial ideation and architectural planning to deployment, operations, and ongoing maintenance.
• Design and champion comprehensive technical solutions and strategies, ensuring they align seamlessly with product goals, business requirements, and long-term scalability.
• Collaborate closely with product management to translate complex user needs and strategic objectives into clear, actionable technical specifications and system designs.
• Drive technical decision-making, evaluating and selecting the most appropriate architectural approaches and technologies to solve diverse challenges.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, performant, and maintainable code by setting and upholding engineering standards, conducting thorough code reviews, and contributing hands-on to critical development paths when needed.
• Identify and proactively mitigate technical risks and dependencies, ensuring smooth project progression.
• Mentor and empower engineering team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and strong engineering practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert for our technology stack, providing expert guidance and support across the team.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and advocate for agile methodologies to enhance team efficiency and product delivery.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of progressive experience in software development, with a proven track record of shaping technical outcomes and guiding teams.
• Deep proficiency with the technologies listed below, demonstrating expert-level understanding and practical application.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a dynamic environment.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences (technical and non-technical stakeholders).
• A strong team player with a passion for mentorship and empowering fellow engineers.
• Highly analytical and possessing a robust problem-solving mindset, capable of architecting solutions for complex, open-ended technical challenges.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies and their application in driving efficient software development.
• B.S or B.A in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related relevant field.

Technologies you’ll work with:

• TypeScript, Node.js
• ReactJs, React Native (Extensive experience with native modules is a plus)
• Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and other relevant services), Firebase (Firestore, Authentication)
