Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer (Data Centre)Position Overview
As an Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer, you will report to the Technical Manager and support the Operations team. You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Data Centre electrical systems, playing a key role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of critical electrical infrastructure to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the data centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effectiveness of critical maintenance activities related to HT (High Tension) and LT (Low Tension) electrical systems, minimizing operational risks in accordance with approved Method of Procedure (MOP).
- Ensure the Data Centre complies with all applicable legislation, industry standards, codes of practice, compliance requirements, and safety regulations.
- Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), and Method of Procedures (MOP) for critical facility equipment and maintenance activities.
- Participate in the design, modification, improvement, installation, relocation, expansion, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Act as the Change Management advocate by ensuring all change requests are properly tracked, executed, and closed within the required timeline.
- Lead incident investigations with the Shift Operations team and prepare interim and final investigation reports for Senior Management.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to improve equipment reliability, operational uptime, and overall system performance.
- Monitor capacity utilization, analyze trends, and implement proactive optimization and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Analyze BMS/DCIM system data and alarm trends to identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Support Green Mark Data Centre Certification and ensure electrical systems comply with Green Mark requirements.
- Conduct technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the competency of Operations teams and shift personnel.
- Coordinate major maintenance activities, including:
- Annual Shutdown
- Electrical Discrimination Studies
- UPS Battery Replacement
- UPS Overhaul
- Other critical maintenance activities
- Support the Operations team in troubleshooting electrical failures and coordinate with equipment vendors for timely issue resolution.
- Identify and propose cost-saving initiatives with clear business benefits.
- Participate as a reviewer and approver for Permit to Work (PTW), Method of Statement (MOS), and Risk Assessment (RA) documentation.
Job Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering and/or electrical design, preferably within a Data Centre environment.
- Candidates with 6 years or more of relevant experience and strong technical expertise may be considered for a Senior Engineer position.
- Strong knowledge of:
- HT & LT Electrical Systems
- Building Management System (BMS)
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
