JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose

• This position is ideal for individuals including fresh graduates or those without prior veterinary experience who are passionate about animal care and eager to build a career in the veterinary field. The Veterinary Nurse (Trainee) will undergo structured, hands-on training under the supervision of veterinarians and senior veterinary nurses to gain comprehensive knowledge of clinical operations, patient care, and hospital support functions. The learning will take 6 months=probation (3 months learning with theory and oversee + 3 months practical to execute work under instruction and supervision)

Key Responsibilities

1. Training & Learning

• Participate actively in the training program led by experienced veterinarians and senior nurses.
• Learn and understand the overall clinic operations including consultation, surgery, pharmacy, hospitalization, and front desk management.
• Observe and assist in various procedures to develop clinical competency and familiarity with veterinary practices.

2. Animal Care & Handling

• Assist in the feeding, cleaning, and monitoring of both inpatients and resident animals.
• Safely restrain animals during examinations and treatments under supervision.
• Observe and report any abnormal animal behavior or medical concerns promptly.

3. Assisting Veterinarian

• Support veterinarians during consultations, medical procedures, and surgeries.
• Prepare equipment, surgical sets, and treatment areas before and after each session.
• Assist in dispensing medications and explaining treatment instructions to pet owners when assigned.

4. Facility & Equipment Care

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the clinic, including wards, consultation rooms, and treatment areas.
• Assist in sterilizing instruments, maintaining medical devices, and managing consumable supplies.
• Ensure all tools and materials are stored and handled properly according to clinic protocols.

5. Administrative & Front Desk Support

• Assist in patient registration, appointment scheduling, and basic administrative tasks.
• Learn the process of handling payments and managing customer interactions at the reception counter.
• Support inventory and stock management activities as part of operational training.

General Duties

• Uphold high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and safety at all times.
• Participate in cleaning duties, including kennels, cages, and common areas.
• Assist in emergency handling procedures as guided by senior staff.
• Ensure all consumables and medical supplies are replenished when stock is low.
• Take turns for weekend or holiday duties as scheduled.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in any field (preferably related to Science, Animal Science, or equivalent). No need degree, Certificate/SPM Leaver
• Malaysian
• Passionate about animal care and willing to learn veterinary practices.
• Responsible, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to handle animals compassionately and calmly under supervision.

Training & Development

• Selected candidates will undergo comprehensive on-the-job training covering:
• Basic veterinary nursing and animal handling skills
• Clinic operations and workflow management
• Laboratory, surgery, and pharmacy procedures
• Customer communication and administrative tasks
• Successful trainees who demonstrate strong learning ability and commitment will have the opportunity for career advancement within the clinic.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM2,800.93 per month
