Veterinary Assistant — Job Description

Position Overview

The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to animal patients. This role involves assisting with patient handling, clinic operations, hygiene, and client communication to ensure smooth daily workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during consultations, treatments, and procedures
• Safely restrain and handle animals during examinations and treatments
• Prepare treatment and consultation areas
• Clean and sterilize instruments, cages, and workspaces
• Monitor hospitalized patients and report concerns to vets
• Prepare medications and supplies as directed
• Support feeding, walking, and basic patient care
• Maintain clinic cleanliness and infection control standards
• Assist with stock organization and inventory checks
• Provide polite and professional communication with pet owners
• Support front desk or administrative tasks when needed

Requirements

• Genuine interest in animal care and welfare
• Calm and confident handling of animals
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and follow clinical protocols
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Physically capable of standing, lifting, and assisting with animal restraint
• Prior veterinary or animal handling experience is an advantage (but not required)

Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
