Role Purpose
The Assistant Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting and financial operations for multiple companies within the Group. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and efficient accounting processes. This position also provides leadership and guidance to accounting staff while supporting management in financial planning, performance monitoring, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain a full set of accounts for multiple companies independently.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly financial records, including Income Statement and Balance Sheet for management review.
- Oversee and manage general ledger activities, journal entries, invoices, billing, and payment transactions.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes across all entities.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing process, including account reconciliations and financial review.
- Prepare monthly management reports and ensure proper financial documentation and audit readiness.
2. Compliance, Taxation & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of E-Invoice, SST, and Withholding Tax in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Liaise with External Auditors, Tax Agents, Company Secretary, Bankers, and Solicitors on financial and statutory matters.
- Ensure proper documentation and internal controls are maintained for audit and regulatory purposes.
3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and financial planning activities.
- Monitor budget performance and conduct variance analysis to identify trends and financial risks.
- Provide recommendations to management on cost control, financial efficiency, and resource optimization.
- Assist management in evaluating financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making.
4. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Supervise and review the work of accounting staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and productivity.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to junior accounting personnel.
- Strengthen accounting processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce operational risks.
- Promote best practices in financial management and internal controls.
5. Governance & Internal Control
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
- Maintain proper financial records and documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Identify process gaps, financial risks, and control weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support management in strengthening financial governance and accountability across the Group.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or group environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supervising accounting staff is preferred.
- Proficient in accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Pay: RM6,500.00 - RM8,500.00 per month
