Full Stack Python Developer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Hybrid / Onsite)

About the Role

We are looking for a Mid-to-Senior Full Stack Python Developer to build and extend an Agentic AI platform with a strong focus on LLM workflows, orchestration, retrieval systems, and backend services.

This role is ideal for an engineer who can quickly understand existing codebases, reason through complex systems, and deliver production-quality enhancements with minimal guidance. You will work on stateful multi-step AI workflows, backend APIs, retrieval/scoring systems, and containerized runtime environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance backend services and agentic workflows for the AI platform.
• Build and maintain stateful, multi-step LLM pipelines and orchestration logic.
• Design, optimize, and maintain retrieval and scoring systems.
• Debug production issues using logs, traces, and system behavior analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable AI-driven solutions.
• Implement incremental changes with strong testing and validation practices.
• Contribute to architecture, performance optimization, and operational reliability.

Mandatory Technical SkillsPython (Senior Level)

• Strong proficiency in Python with 7–10 years of experience.
• Ability to write clean, idiomatic Python using:
• Type hints
• Dataclasses
• Pydantic
• Generators
• Context managers
• Strong understanding of:
• Async/await
• Concurrency models
• Python standard libraries (pathlib, json, re, collections, etc.)
• Ability to independently modify moderately complex Python modules (300+ lines).

Backend API Development (FastAPI)

• Experience building and extending FastAPI services.
• Strong understanding of:
• Request lifecycle
• Dependency injection
• Middleware
• Multi-worker deployments
• Shared state management (Redis)
• Ability to diagnose issues using logs and traces with minimal debugger reliance.

LLM / AI Engineering (Applied)

• Hands-on experience building production-grade LLM workflows.
• Strong understanding of:
• Deterministic prompt design
• Structured outputs
• Low/no temperature prompting
• Handling failure modes (timeouts, malformed outputs)
• Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems including:
• Chunking
• Embeddings
• Similarity scoring

Workflow Orchestration & System Design

• Experience with LangGraph or equivalent stateful orchestration frameworks.
• Ability to quickly learn graph/state concepts and implement multi-step workflows within 1–2 weeks.

Retrieval & Scoring Systems

• Experience with ranking and scoring methods such as:
• BM25
• Hybrid search
• Similarity scoring
• Ability to tune thresholds, weighting, and precision vs recall trade-offs.
• Experience building realistic test datasets.

Infrastructure & Runtime

• Hands-on experience with:
• Docker
• Docker Compose
• Volumes
• Service dependencies
• Health checks
• Experience debugging container runtime issues.
• Working knowledge of:
• Redis (basic operations, TTL, persistence)
• Enterprise networking concepts (proxies, internal services)

Frontend (Working-Level)

• Ability to work with HTML and Vanilla JavaScript.
• Comfortable with:
• DOM manipulation
• Fetch APIs
• Event handling
• Able to implement UI changes directly from requirements.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

• Read, understand, and modify moderately complex Python modules independently.
• Fill knowledge gaps through documentation, experimentation, and reasoning.
• Interpret existing systems and implement changes with minimal onboarding.
• Deliver production-quality enhancements without heavy reliance on AI-assisted coding tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with vector databases and embedding pipelines.
• Exposure to observability tooling (logs, traces, metrics).
• Experience building AI platforms, copilots, or autonomous/agentic systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployment practices.
