Discipline Support Officer (DSO)

Location: Bartley, Jalan Bunga Rampai, Singapore

Contract Type: Contract

Contract Period: 20 August 2026 – 29 October 2027 (Estimated 1,500 working hours)

About the Role

Bartley Secondary School is seeking a highly experienced and professional Discipline Support Officer (DSO) to support the school's Student Management Team in maintaining a safe, disciplined, and conducive learning environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in student discipline, behavioural management, investigations, campus supervision, restorative practices, and case administration while working closely with school leaders, teachers, students and parents.

This position is best suited for former personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), Singapore Prison Service (SPS), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Auxiliary Police, or experienced school discipline professionals who possess strong people management and investigation skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Discipline Investigation & Case Management

  • Conduct preliminary investigations into student discipline cases.
  • Carry out fact-finding interviews with students and witnesses.
  • Record statements accurately and objectively.
  • Gather and organise supporting evidence.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports for School Leaders and the Student Management Team.
  • Maintain confidential case records and documentation.
  • Follow up with students, teachers and parents to ensure timely case closure.

2. Student Behaviour & Discipline Support

  • Support the implementation of the school's discipline framework.
  • Assist teachers in managing student behavioural issues.
  • Guide students towards positive behavioural change.
  • Promote restorative discipline practices.
  • Support conflict resolution and peer mediation where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.

3. Detention Programme Management

  • Coordinate detention attendance with Form Teachers.
  • Supervise detention sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Ensure students comply with detention rules and expectations.
  • Maintain attendance and behavioural records.
  • Follow up with detention defaulters and report recurring cases.

4. In-House Suspension Programme

  • Supervise students serving internal suspension.
  • Maintain a structured and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor students' conduct during suspension.
  • Support completion of assigned schoolwork.
  • Facilitate reflection activities to prepare students for successful reintegration into class.

5. Campus Supervision

  • Conduct regular patrols across the school campus.
  • Monitor student movement during: Morning arrival Lesson transitions Recess Lunch Dismissal
  • Supervise common areas including the canteen and school entrances.
  • Monitor school vicinity where required.
  • Identify potential discipline issues before escalation.
  • Provide visible adult supervision to enhance school safety.

6. Student Engagement

  • Engage students respectfully while maintaining discipline.
  • Encourage responsible behaviour and accountability.
  • Support restorative conversations.
  • Provide guidance to students experiencing behavioural challenges.

7. Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate discipline records.
  • Prepare investigation reports and documentation.
  • Update student case files.
  • Prepare statistics and reports for School Leaders.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.

8. Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with: tudent Management Committee School Leaders Year Heads Form Teachers School Counsellors Parents
  • Support school events requiring discipline supervision.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by School Leaders.

Working Hours (School Terms Only)

Monday – Thursday

  • 8.00 am – 5.30 pm
  • Inclusive of 1-hour lunch break

Friday

  • 8.00 am – 2.00 pm
  • Inclusive of 1-hour lunch break

No service is required on:

  • Saturdays
  • Sundays
  • Gazetted Public Holidays
  • Designated Home-Based Learning (HBL) Days
  • School Holidays (e.g. Youth Day, Teachers' Day, National Day School Holiday and Term Breaks)

Working hours may be adjusted according to school operational requirements.

Estimated Total Working Hours: 1,500 hours

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • GCE O-Level or equivalent.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in one or more of the following: Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)Singapore Police Force (SPF)Singapore Prison Service (SPS)Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)Auxiliary Police School Discipline Management Student Behaviour Management
  • Experience in investigations, incident reporting, student discipline, youth engagement or behavioural intervention.
  • Familiarity with case management and confidentiality requirements.
