Our client is a fast-growing technology company focused on building scalable digital platforms, advanced data infrastructure, AI-powered tools, and enterprise-grade internal applications. They are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect / Solutions Architect / Technical Lead / Staff Engineer to become the senior-most individual contributor responsible for defining technical architecture, establishing engineering standards, and guiding technical direction across the organization.

Unlike an Engineering Manager, this position focuses on technical leadership rather than people management.

Role Overview

As the senior technical authority, you will own architectural decisions across the company's engineering ecosystem, including data platforms, cloud infrastructure, AI tooling, integrations, and internal applications.

You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions while mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering best practices throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall technical architecture across data platforms, cloud infrastructure, integrations, AI tooling, and internal applications.
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable system architectures that support business growth.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, coding guidelines, documentation practices, and data governance policies.
• Lead architecture reviews and approve major technical design decisions before implementation.
• Evaluate technical risks, identify architectural bottlenecks, and proactively reduce technical debt.
• Serve as the highest technical escalation point for complex or cross-functional engineering challenges.
• Drive long-term technical roadmaps aligned with business and product objectives.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical guidance without direct people-management responsibilities.
• Promote engineering best practices and ensure consistency across development teams.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and AI teams to deliver scalable technology solutions.

RequirementsExperience

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• At least 2 years serving in an Architecture, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent senior individual contributor role.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.

Technical Expertise

Strong experience across several of the following:

• Data Platforms & Data Pipelines
• Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• System Architecture & Solution Design
• API Design & System Integrations
• Microservices Architecture
• Event-Driven Systems
• Data Governance
• CI/CD and DevOps best practices
• Applied AI / AI-enabled platforms (preferred)

Leadership

• Proven ability to establish engineering standards adopted across multiple teams.
• Strong technical decision-making and architecture review experience.
• Ability to influence engineering direction without formal reporting authority.
• Excellent technical documentation and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving technology environment.
