Position Overview
We are seeking an advanced Staff Design Engineer with deep technical expertise in thermal-fluid systems and pressure equipment manufacturing. In this role, you will spearhead the mechanical design, code compliance, and thermal optimization of custom Plate Heat Exchangers (PHE). You will serve as the technical authority within the engineering department, ensuring that every design strictly adheres to international pressure vessel codes, advanced drafting standards, and stringent manufacturing tolerances.
Responsibilities
- Lead thermal and mechanical design for PHEs and modular EPCC packages, performing sizing, FEA, pressure drop analysis, and structural verification under international codes (ASME, TEMA, PED, JIS).
- Oversee 2D/3D manufacturing drawings (PA/GA, piping isometrics), P&IDs/PFDs, and maintain ISO 9001 compliance packages, including design dossiers, MTRs, and ITPs.
- Evaluate NSDA requests, apply metallurgical and welding expertise (stainless steel, titanium, exotic alloys), and enforce strict GD&T drafting standards.
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients, EPC contractors, and internal teams (Sales, Production, QC, Site Commissioning) to resolve technical and manufacturing bottlenecks.
- Drive value engineering, CAD workflow optimization, and perform ad hoc technical duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in engineering rules within a manufacturing environment, preferably with direct experience in heat exchangers or related thermal transfer equipment.
- Experienced with relevant industry standards and codes related to pressure vessel and/or heat exchangers such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Section VIII, TEMA standards, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and other applicable regional or international regulations.
- Strong command of CAD tools (2D and 3D), mechanical design calculations, and thermal engineering basics.
- Familiarity with PHE components, model codes, terminology, and working principles.
- Solid understanding of ASME and JIS standards related to PHE.
- Experience with ISO 9001 processes and documentation compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, detail orientation, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
