Data Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our technology team and support enterprise data initiatives within the Banking and Financial Services industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data integration solutions, and data platforms that enable business intelligence, analytics, and regulatory reporting.
This role requires strong technical expertise in data engineering, ETL development, database technologies, cloud platforms, and big data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Build and optimize data integration workflows from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
- Develop and maintain enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data analysts, data scientists, and application teams to understand data requirements.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, consistency, and governance across enterprise data platforms.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, query execution, and data processing jobs.
- Implement data validation, cleansing, transformation, and reconciliation processes.
- Develop reusable data models and support reporting and analytics initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data pipelines and batch processing.
- Automate data workflows and scheduling processes.
- Maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Hands-on experience developing ETL/ELT solutions using tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage, Apache NiFi, or similar.
- Experience building data pipelines using Python, Spark, Scala, or Java.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience working with data warehouses, data lakes, and big data technologies including Hadoop or Apache Spark.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or similar.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and performance tuning.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, data governance, or data quality frameworks.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools is advantageous.

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
- AWS Certified Data Engineer
- Google Professional Data Engineer
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer
- Snowflake Certification (preferred)
- Any relevant cloud or data engineering certification
