Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Health, Safety & Environmental Management
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Company's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994, OSH (Amendment) Act 2022, FMA 1967, Environmental Quality Act, Mines Regulations, and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all site operations.
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC).
- Review and update risk assessments whenever work activities change.
- Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
3. Site Inspection & Audit
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections of mining pits, workshops, crushing plants, laboratories, warehouses, offices, camps, and contractor work areas.
- Monitor compliance with Company safety procedures and legal requirements.
- Prepare inspection reports and track corrective action closure.
4. Permit to Work (PTW)
- Administer and monitor the Permit to Work System.
- Verify that all high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, lifting operations, and electrical isolation comply with PTW requirements.
5. Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences, property damage, environmental incidents, and near misses.
- Conduct root cause analysis and prepare investigation reports.
- Monitor implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
6. Emergency Response
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, evacuation drills, and emergency response exercises.
- Ensure emergency equipment, firefighting systems, first aid kits, and rescue equipment are maintained and ready for use.
- Act as Emergency Response Team (ERT) coordinator when required.
7. Training & Safety Awareness
- Conduct site safety induction for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize toolbox meetings, HSE campaigns, refresher training, and safety briefings.
- Promote continuous safety awareness throughout the organization.
8. Contractor Safety Management
- Monitor contractor compliance with Company HSE requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety evaluations and inspections.
- Ensure contractors comply with safe work procedures and permit requirements.
9. Regulatory Compliance
- Liaise with DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, JMG, local authorities, and other regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate inspections by government authorities and ensure timely submission of statutory reports.
10. HSE Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain HSE records including inspections, incident reports, training records, PTW, safety statistics, and legal registers.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual HSE reports for Management.
- Analyse safety performance trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
11. PPE & Safety Equipment Management
- Monitor the availability, issuance, inspection, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure safety signage, barricades, emergency equipment, and firefighting systems are adequately maintained.
12. Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental compliance including dust suppression, waste management, spill prevention, noise control, and water management.
- Assist in environmental inspections and corrective action implementation.
13. Safety Committee
- Serve as Secretary or Coordinator for the Site Safety & Health Committee.
- Organize committee meetings and follow up on action items.
14. General Responsibilities
- Support Management in achieving the Company's HSE objectives and KPIs.
- Recommend improvements to HSE policies, procedures, and work practices.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per hour
