Responsibilities

ob Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Reports To: Special Needs Teacher / Centre Manager

Job Summary

The Special Needs Teaching Assistant supports the Special Needs Teacher in delivering intervention programmes, facilitating student participation, managing classroom routines, and ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support

  • Assist during one-to-one and group learning sessions.
  • Provide prompting and guidance under the teacher's supervision.
  • Support students during transitions and daily routines.
  • Encourage independence in self-help skills.
  • Assist students with communication and social interactions.

Classroom Support

  • Prepare teaching materials before lessons.
  • Set up learning stations and sensory activities.
  • Organise educational resources and classroom equipment.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and safety.

Behaviour Support

  • Implement behaviour support strategies directed by the teacher.
  • Reinforce positive behaviours.
  • Record behavioural observations when required.
  • Assist during behavioural incidents while maintaining student safety.

Documentation

  • Record attendance and daily observations.
  • Assist in collecting student performance data.
  • Support teachers with classroom documentation.

Parent Communication

  • Relay daily classroom updates through approved communication channels.
  • Refer all educational concerns to the supervising teacher.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with centre events and activities.
  • Support inventory management of classroom materials.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Centre Manager.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children is an advantage.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Patience and emotional resilience.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,000.00 per month
