Full Time Civil and Structural Engineer Jobs, in Talent Federal Territory - Maukerja

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy and work closely with our Melbourne-based team.

They are looking for engineers who have previously worked for an Australian consulting engineering firm and have a strong understanding of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC), and Australian residential construction practices.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the Director and engineering team in Melbourne, taking responsibility for the structural analysis, design and delivery of residential and small commercial projects across Australia.

The successful candidate will be technically capable, detail-oriented and comfortable working independently within a collaborative remote engineering environment.

• Structural analysis and design of residential and small commercial projects
• Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations and design documentation
• Designing timber, structural steel and reinforced concrete structures
• Structural steel connection design and detailing
• Coordinating structural designs with architects and other project consultants
• Reviewing and checking structural drawings and documentation
• Undertaking basic civil engineering design, including stormwater drainage, on-site drainage, pavements and earthworks
• Providing technical support to junior engineers and drafters
• Mentoring team members where required
• Reporting directly to the Director
• Participating in daily project coordination meetings with the Melbourne team
• Delivering designs and documentation in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements and industry practices
  
  

The successful candidate should have practical design and documentation experience across:

• Residential timber framing
• Structural steel framing and connection design
• Reinforced concrete slabs, beams, columns and footings
• Retaining walls
• Basement construction
• Precast concrete elements
• Residential developments
• Small commercial developments
• Stormwater and on-site drainage
• Pavement design
• Earthworks and associated basic civil engineering works
  
  

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• 3-5 years' experience within a civil and structural engineering consultancy
• Previous experience working with an Australian consulting engineering firm, which will be highly regarded
• A sound understanding of Australian Standards and the NCC
• Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction methods and practices
• Experience producing engineering calculations and coordinating structural documentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• The ability to manage your own workload and work independently
• The ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and drafters in a remote team environment
• Availability to commence immediately or within a reasonable notice period
