Role Description The Application Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya. This role involves providing technical support for academic and administrative applications, including diagnosing software and system issues, resolving user queries, and coordinating with vendors or internal teams for complex problems. The Application Engineer will participate in software development or customization efforts, assist with installation, configuration, and deployment of new applications, and perform routine maintenance and updates to ensure system reliability. Daily tasks include testing new features or integrations, documenting technical processes, monitoring performance, and recommending improvements to enhance user experience and operational efficiency. The role also requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and IT colleagues to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions aligned with BAC’s educational environment.
Qualifications
- Strong technical support skills, including troubleshooting application issues, user support, and incident resolution.
- Experience with software development or application customization, including basic programming, scripting, or configuration.
- Background in Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to understand system interfaces and hardware–software interactions.
- Proficiency in testing activities such as functional testing, integration testing, and user acceptance support for new or updated applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with databases, networks, and operating systems relevant to campus IT environments.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and documentation practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Kota Baharu and manage multiple tasks or projects in a dynamic educational setting.
- Experience in higher education or public/enterprise IT environments is an advantage.
