Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
• Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting and rolling forecast processes across the Group.
• Prepare insightful variance analysis, identify key business drivers and recommend timely corrective actions.
• Analyse profitability by trade lane, service, customer segment and other relevant shipping KPIs to support management decisions.
2. Reporting & Compliance:
• Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Group financial reports, supported by clear management commentaries for stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with applicable local and international accounting and financial reporting standards, including SFRS, IFRS and other relevant requirements.
• Support the review of corporate resolutions and coordinate with auditors, tax agents and corporate secretaries on audits, tax filings and statutory matters.
3. Cost Control & Optimisation:
• Monitor and analyse slot costs, terminal handling charges, depot charges, container leasing costs and other key operating expenses.
• Partner with operations, trade and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve margin performance.
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
• Oversee cash flow, credit control and funding requirements across the relevant Group entities.
• Manage banking relationships and support treasury-related matters, including working capital planning and financing arrangements.
5. Business Strategy Support:
• Provide financial modelling and commercial analysis to support joint arrangements, new office set-ups, and other relevant initiatives from time to time.
6. Team Management & Process Improvement:
• Lead, coach and develop a team of finance executives, accountants and analysts.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and stronger internal controls within finance operations.
7. Risk Management:
• Support the placement, negotiation and renewal of cargo liability insurance and other non-HR related insurance programmes.
8. Collaboration:
• Work closely with the counterpart finance lead responsible for other Group entities to ensure consistent, smooth and effective finance support across the Group.
Key Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, with strong academic credentials.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, CPA, ACCA or CIMA is preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant finance experience, ideally gained within the shipping, logistics, maritime or transportation sectors, with demonstrated progression in scope and strong business partnering experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to build robust financial models and / or analyse large data sets.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
