Role Description The General Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya, responsible for supporting the maintenance and smooth operation of myNEWS retail outlets and facilities. Daily tasks include performing routine inspections of equipment and store fixtures, conducting basic repairs, and coordinating with external vendors or specialists when needed. The role involves troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or plumbing issues, ensuring safety standards are met, and documenting maintenance activities. The General Technician will also assist in store setup or refurbishment work, manage tools and spare parts inventory, and respond promptly to maintenance requests from store teams.
Qualifications

• Possess fundamental technical skills in basic electrical, mechanical, or plumbing maintenance and repair.
• Ability to perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting safely and efficiently.
• Skills in organizing tools, parts, and maintenance records, with attention to detail and time management.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with store staff, vendors, and supervisors, and to report issues clearly.
• Capability to work on-site in Petaling Jaya, including occasional travel to nearby outlets as required.
• Relevant vocational certificate or diploma in maintenance, engineering, or a related technical field is an advantage.
• Previous experience in retail, facilities, or building maintenance is preferred but not mandatory.
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
