Role Description

• Create concept and detailed 2D & 3D CAD design of semiconductor process equipment, industrial control, consumer products, medical industries and test automation.
• Create and review detailed design documentation and all mechanical tasks for product development including cable/bundle routing and design, machine frame structural design, sheet metal design, machining part design, die cast part design and plastic enclosure parts.
• Perform hand calculation, simulation and testing of machine structure, thermal heat transfer, fluid flow, pressure drop, gas purity and other characteristics that can affect machine performance, and to design an experiment to validate whether the design can meet specifications.
• Create or support staff/lead/principal mechanical engineers for design review documentation.
• Collaborate with other engineers from different disciplines: System Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Fabrication Technicians and Field Service Engineers.
• Understand risk management and able to create design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA).
• Responsible for your own work schedule and able to communicate well with project leaders, internal and external stakeholders, and other team members. 

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Engineering Degree, majoring in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical design engineer, electro-mechanical engineer, or mechanical drafter. Fresh graduates with excellent academic achievement and relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply for this position.
• Familiar with mechanical engineering drawing standards (i.e. ASME, ISO etc.)
• Have decisive, result-oriented mindset, proactive & independent and work well with other team members.
• Familiar with part manufacturing process such as sheet metal forming, milling/wire cutting process, welding/brazing process, cable harness assembly process, die casting process, and plastic injection moulding process.
• Experience in using CAD and product life cycle management software, preferably Siemens NX, Solidworks, CREO, Teamcenter, Windchill, Solidworks PDM or equivalent.
• Good communication skill and good command of the English language (both written and verbal).
• Occasional overseas assignment is expected for this position and able to travel as required.
• Experience in designing semiconductor machine and familiar with SEMI standards will be added advantage.
• Experience in designing customer products, industrial products and medical products will be added advantage.
