We are looking for a dynamic and experienced IT Technical Manager to oversee IT operations across all Beaconhouse schools and the Beaconhouse Regional Office in Subang Jaya.
Main Purpose of the Job
This position is responsible for overseeing, monitoring and maintaining IT daily operations for all schools & RO, with the objective to perform a variety of duties associated with repair & maintenance as assigned by the Head of IT, within the limitations of Company Policies and School processes and guidelines.
Person Specification:
- English & Bahasa Malaysia (Fluent)
- Degree/Diploma in ICT or related Discipline
- 7-10 years of overall experience.
- At least 5-10 years of relevant work experience in systems administration, helpdesk support function, or network/technical support in the international education industry.
- Vast hands-on experience in BYOD policies and IT Service Management.
- In-depth practical experience with Microsoft 365/Office 365 & Google Suite
- Expert in PC and server/network (routing and switching)/server virtualisation.
- Decision-Making Skills – the ability to solve problems, make decisions and delegate tasks.
- Self-Management Skills – the ability to plan time effectively and to organise oneself well.
- Able to execute the instructions given by the superior: - To understand, verify, plan and deploy the assignment based on the scope of work, for any IT projects (ad-hoc)
Key Responsibilities :
- Manages and oversees all technical IT activities within the company
- Provides technical oversight, expertise, and guidance to internal staff, managers, and clients
- Leads, hires, trains, motivates, and manages IT teams, including performance reviews and task delegation
- Develops technical training, standards, procedures, and maintains technical credibility and competence
- Plans, schedules, and manages IT projects, budgets, and resources (internal and external)
- Oversees system architecture, application integration, business intelligence, and technical solution design
- Conducts feasibility studies, time/cost estimation, and implementation of new or revised systems
- Works with Solution Architects to define requirements, integration practices, and development standards (SMS & LMS)
- Supervises development, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance of applications and systems
- Improves operations by defining metrics, analysing processes, and implementing best practices and tools
- Evaluates technical solutions and resolves complex system and infrastructure issues
- Leads cross-functional projects and manages multiple IT initiatives simultaneously
- Provides technical guidance and simplifies complex IT concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Ensures efficient IT support for staff, students, and school events
Infrastructure & Systems Management:
- Manages and maintains IT infrastructure including servers, systems, networks (LAN/WAN), cloud and on-premise environments
- Configures and maintains G-Suite, email systems, routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers, and computer labs
- Ensures system availability, connectivity, performance, and preventive maintenance
- Installs, configures, and maintains hardware, software, and IT equipment (PCs, printers, laptops, projectors, smartboards, CCTV, telephony, etc.)
- Performs system upgrades, patches, antivirus updates, backups, and restores (daily/monthly/yearly)
- Manages IT inventory including hardware, software licenses, and assets
- Supports BYOD, Chromebooks, and hybrid classroom projects
Security & Compliance:
- Ensures IT security, data protection, network access control, and backup integrity
- Identifies vulnerabilities and implements cybersecurity and infrastructure protection plans
- Conducts monitoring, penetration testing, patching, and compliance support for IT audits/certifications
- Maintains security policies, internal controls, and user awareness training
- Keeps updated with cybersecurity threats, standards, and best practices
Operations & Support:
- Provides troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues
- Monitors system health, network usage, and ensures minimal downtime
- Ensures IT systems support business operations within required service hours
- Develops system manuals, guidelines, and documentation
- Any other task or project as assigned by the Management from time to time.
