The Role

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Communication Server (Network) Engineer to support mainframe network engineering activities within the technology sector. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned systems professional to apply their z/OS and networking expertise on complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure in a hybrid working environment.

What You'll Do

• Participate in the design, development and implementation of mainframe network systems, including TCP/IP and SNA/APPN

• Provide OS technical support and systems programming for z/OS environments

• Support data center operations and engineering activities

• Configure, support and tune MVS or z/OS Operating System components

• Support system products such as CICS, DB and Scheduling & Software Application management tools

• Contribute to mainframe connectivity design considerations

• Participate in BAU support with rotational 24x7 on-call coverage

What We're Looking For

• 5-7 years of experience in support and/or implementation of mainframe network engineering activities in a z/OS environment

• Minimum 3-4 years of Systems Programming experience in z/OS

• Strong networking, problem-solving and protocol skills with an understanding of mainframe communication concepts

• Working knowledge of TCP and SNA communications, plus printer setup experience

• Knowledge of IBM enterprise server hardware, REXX and/or SAS programming is an advantage

• Familiarity with encryption technologies and certificate management (AT-TLS/KEYRINGs) is a plus

• IT degree and/or relevant certifications preferred, or substantial equivalent experience; banking/financial industry exposure is advantageous
