Job Purpose
To support and implement the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programmes, ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and promote a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
a) Safety & Health Management
- Implement and monitor the company’s Occupational Safety and Health policies, procedures and programmes.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions and follow up on their implementation.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, safe work procedures and safety rules.
b) Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable DOSH/OSHA, environmental and other relevant legal requirements.
- Maintain and update safety-related legal registers, licences, records and documentation.
- Assist during inspections and audits by DOSH, DOE, ISO auditors and other relevant authorities.
c) Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct and review HIRARC / risk assessments for workplace activities.
- Assist departments in implementing appropriate risk control measures.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure necessary control measures are in place.
d) Incident & Accident Management
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare investigation reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor accident statistics and identify trends for continual improvement.
e) Training & Safety Awareness
- Organise and conduct safety induction, toolbox meetings and safety awareness programmes.
- Coordinate relevant safety training for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the workplace.
f) Emergency Preparedness
- Assist in developing, implementing and testing emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate emergency drills such as fire, chemical spill and evacuation exercises.
- Ensure emergency equipment, fire-fighting equipment, first-aid facilities and emergency signage are properly maintained.
g) ISO 45001 / Internal Audit
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Follow up on audit findings, nonconformities and corrective actions.
h) Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training records, incident reports and other EHS documentation.
- Prepare monthly safety reports, statistics and management updates.
- Ensure safety documentation is properly controlled and maintained.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing, recycling, chemical handling or industrial environments will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of OSHA/DOSH requirements, HIRARC, workplace safety and emergency response.
- Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Able to conduct workplace inspections and prepare safety reports.
- Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Able to work independently and coordinate with different departments.
