The Procurement Assistant Manager supports the planning, sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, and cost-control activities. This role assists in developing procurement strategies, expanding and diversifying the vendor base, managing supplier relationships, ensuring the timely delivery of goods, and maintaining compliance with company policies, contracts, and procurement procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in developing and implementing procurement plans, sourcing strategies, and supplier selection processes.
- Increase procurement sourcing by identifying and engaging suitable vendors across different markets and supply channels.
- Expand and diversify the supplier base by bringing in qualified new vendors in addition to maintaining relationships with existing vendors.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, quality products, and favourable contract terms.
- Conduct vendor due diligence, evaluate commercial and operational capabilities, and coordinate the onboarding and approval of new suppliers.
- Prepare, review, and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and related procurement documentation.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, service levels, and compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
- Coordinate with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements, forecast demand, and ensure timely supply availability.
- Resolve procurement-related issues, including delivery delays, invoice discrepancies, quality concerns, and supplier disputes.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, approval limits, audit requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Support the Chief Commercial Officer in supervising procurement team members and managing day-to-day departmental operations.
- Prepare procurement analyses, supplier evaluation summaries, sourcing pipeline reports, and management updates.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably with exposure to supplier negotiation and contract management.
- Experience in managing procurement related to palm oil products will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of procurement policies, supplier management, vendor onboarding, and inventory control.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of supplier management, purchasing controls, and contract administration.
- A strong network within the palm oil industry is preferred. Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and develop new vendor sources.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, pricing, and reporting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and procurement reporting tools. Commercial awareness with a focus on cost savings, quality, service, and risk management.
- Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives and departmental targets
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
