Job Summary

Responsible for validating database functionality, data integrity, data accuracy, stored procedures, queries and backend transactions supporting banking applications. The role ensures that data is correctly stored, processed, transformed and retrieved across banking systems while meeting business, security, performance and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse business and technical requirements related to database and backend functionality.
• Develop database test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test data.
• Perform backend database testing for banking applications.
• Validate data flow between application interfaces and backend databases.
• Verify data accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Execute SQL queries to validate database records and transaction results.

• Perform CRUD testing (Create, Read, Update and Delete).
• Validate database transactions against expected banking business rules.

• Perform database testing during SIT, UAT and regression testing.
• Validate batch jobs and scheduled database processes.
• Test database interfaces with APIs and application systems.
• Validate data integrity across integrated banking systems.
• Perform negative testing and exception handling.
• Validate database error handling and transaction rollback mechanisms.
• Perform database regression testing after application or database changes.
• Identify, document and track database defects.
• Participate in defect triage with Developers, DBAs, Business Analysts and Test Managers.
• Perform defect retesting and validate fixes.
• Support production deployment and post-deployment database validation.
• Verify that sensitive banking data is appropriately protected and accessed.
• Ensure database testing complies with the bank's security, audit, risk and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field.
• 3–8+ years of experience in Database Testing / Backend Testing / Data Testing.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 or similar databases.
• Good understanding of relational database concepts.
• Experience testing stored procedures, functions, triggers and database jobs.
• Strong experience with data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience with SIT, UAT and regression testing.
• Good understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Banking / financial-services experience is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of sensitive financial data and data security.
