Job Summary

Responsible for designing and defining end-to-end technology solutions for banking applications and platforms. The Solution Architect translates business requirements into scalable, secure, resilient and cost-effective technical architectures while ensuring alignment with the bank's enterprise architecture, security standards, technology strategy and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solution architectures for banking applications and technology projects.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical and architectural solutions.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers, Security Teams, Infrastructure Teams, Data Teams and vendors.
• Define application, integration, data, infrastructure and security architecture.
• Produce architecture documents including:
• High-Level Design (HLD)
• Low-Level Design (LLD)
• Solution Architecture Document
• Integration Architecture
• Data Flow Diagrams
• Technical Architecture Diagrams
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend enhancements, modernisation or replacement strategies.
• Design integration between banking applications using:
• REST / SOAP APIs
• Microservices
• ESB / Middleware
• Message Queues
• Event-driven architecture
• API Gateways
• Ensure solutions integrate effectively with Core Banking and surrounding banking systems.
• Assess technology options and recommend appropriate platforms, frameworks and products.
• Define non-functional requirements covering:
• Performance
• Scalability
• Availability
• Resilience
• Disaster Recovery
• Security
• Maintainability
• Work with Cybersecurity teams to ensure appropriate security controls are incorporated into solution designs.
• Review technical designs produced by development and engineering teams.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, constraints and potential architectural issues.
• Ensure proposed solutions comply with the bank's IT governance, security, risk and regulatory requirements.
• Support cloud adoption, application modernisation and digital transformation initiatives.
• Work with vendors and technology partners during solution evaluation and implementation.
• Support Proof of Concept (PoC), technology evaluation and vendor selection activities.
• Provide technical guidance during development, testing, deployment and production implementation.
• Ensure solutions are scalable and capable of supporting high-volume banking transactions.
• Contribute to technology standards, architecture principles and reusable reference architectures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field.
• 8–12+ years of IT experience, with significant experience in Solution Architecture.
• Strong experience designing enterprise or banking application solutions.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, integration and distributed systems.
• Experience with API, microservices and cloud architecture.
• Strong understanding of databases and data architecture.
• Good knowledge of cybersecurity and secure architecture principles.
• Experience working with Agile and Waterfall delivery teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Banking / financial-services experience is highly preferred.
