Job Summary

Responsible for planning, designing and executing performance and load testing for banking applications and technology platforms. The role ensures systems can handle expected transaction volumes, peak loads and concurrent users while maintaining acceptable response times, stability, scalability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Performance Test Strategy, Test Plan and Test Scenarios.
• Analyse business and technical requirements to determine performance testing objectives and workload models.
• Design performance tests covering:
• Load Testing
• Stress Testing
• Spike Testing
• Endurance / Soak Testing
• Scalability Testing
• Volume Testing
• Capacity Testing
• Create realistic workload models based on banking transaction volumes and user behaviour.
• Develop and maintain performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling or similar.
• Execute performance tests for web, mobile, API and backend banking applications.
• Conduct API performance testing for REST / SOAP services and microservices.
• Perform database performance testing and analyse SQL queries, stored procedures and database response times.
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance during test execution.
• Analyse key performance metrics including:
• Response Time
• Throughput
• Transactions Per Second (TPS)
• Concurrent Users
• CPU Utilisation
• Memory Utilisation
• Database Performance
• Network Utilisation
• Error Rates
• Identify performance bottlenecks across application, database, middleware, infrastructure and network layers.
• Work with Developers, Application Support, Infrastructure, Database and Architecture teams to identify root causes.
• Provide recommendations for performance optimisation and capacity improvement.
• Conduct baseline, benchmark and comparative performance tests.
• Validate application performance following code, infrastructure or configuration changes.
• Execute performance testing as part of SIT, regression and pre-production readiness.
• Prepare performance test reports and present findings to technical and senior management.
• Track performance defects and ensure remediation is validated through re-testing.
• Support production capacity planning and performance benchmarking.
• Participate in release and Go-Live readiness assessments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 3–8+ years of experience in Performance Testing / Performance Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner or equivalent tools.
• Experience designing workload models and performance test scenarios.
• Strong understanding of performance testing methodologies and metrics.
• Experience with API, database and backend performance testing.
• Good knowledge of SQL and database performance analysis.
• Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance bottleneck analysis skills.
• Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments.
• Banking or financial-services experience is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and technical reporting skills.
