Hydrometallurgy Engineer

Location : Kuala Klawang (Negeri Sembilan)

Salary : RM5,100

Hydrometallurgical Process Optimization:

Oversee and fine-tune chemical extraction parameters (pH levels, chemical reagent dosage, residence time, liquid-solid ratios, temperature, and flow rates) to maximize rare earth element recovery rates.

Direct and supervise process circuits involving in-situ or heap/vat leaching, pregnant leach solution (PLS) clarification, solvent extraction (SX), and precipitation.

Chemical Plant & Quality Control:

Establish strict Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols for chemical reagents, feed solutions, intermediate compounds, and final rare earth concentrate products.

Work closely with the analytical laboratory team to review ICP-MS/XRF assay results and make real-time adjustments to processing parameters.

Process Engineering & Troubleshooting:

Identify root causes of process inefficiencies, chemical reagent losses, or emulsion issues in solvent extraction circuits and implement technical solutions immediately.

Conduct mass balance calculations, flowsheeting, and scale-up studies to improve throughput and yield from pilot stage to full production.

Environmental & Chemical Safety Compliance:

Ensure all chemical processes, effluent treatment plants (ETP), and neutralizing systems strictly comply with the Department of Environment (DOE), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), and Department of Mineral and Geoscience (JMG) standards.

Enforce strict chemical hazard protocols, material safety data sheet (MSDS) compliance, and safe handling procedures for acids, bases, and organic solvents.

Reporting & Cost Management:

Monitor chemical reagent consumption and implement efficiency measures to reduce operating expenditure (OPEX).

Prepare daily chemical production reports, mass balance reconciliations, and process design documentation for executive management.

Qualifications & Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemistry, or Material Science Engineering.

-Professional Registration:

Registration or eligibility for professional engineer status (e.g., Board of Engineers Malaysia / BEM, Institute of Chemical Engineers, or equivalent international body) is highly preferred

-Minimum of 2 to 8 years of hands-on technical experience in industrial chemical processing, hydrometallurgy, or mineral processing plants.
