Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Machinist role based in Butterworth. The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring manual lathe & milling machines to produce parts according to technical drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and inspecting components, performing basic machine maintenance, and adjusting settings to maintain quality and efficiency. The role also involves reading blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and materials, and documenting work performed. The Machinist collaborates with supervisors to meet production targets and comply with safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Hands-on experience with manual and/or CNC machining operations, including machine setup, tooling selection, and basic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of shop safety practices, proper use of personal protective equipment, and safe handling of tools and materials.
- Basic understanding of materials used in machining (metals, alloys) and their behavior during cutting and finishing processes.
- Strong attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and ability to perform accurate measurements and inspections.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site in Butterworth, including possible overtime based on operational needs.
- Relevant technical or vocational certification in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is an advantage; prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
