Position Summary
The MES Engineer/ MTS will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and support of the Manufacturing Execution System(MES) to ensure stable and efficient manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of MES and manufacturing processes, together with software development, database, system integration, and troubleshooting skills. The candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Quality, IT, and other cross-functional teams to develop and implement MES solutions that improve production efficiency, quality, traceability, and automation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, enhance, test, deploy, and maintain MES applications and manufacturing-related systems.
- Analyze manufacturing requirements and translate business and production requirements into MES solutions.
- Support MES production operations and provide timely troubleshooting for system-related issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for MES, application, database, equipment interface, and integration issues.
- Develop and maintain MES functions related to lot/wafer/panel tracking, material movement, production transactions, equipment processing, holds, releases, rework, and shipping.
- Develop and maintain interfaces between MES, equipment, automation systems, and enterprise applications.
- Support equipment integration and manufacturing communication interfaces such as SECS/GEM and other applicable protocols.
- Develop and maintain B2B EDI, APIs, reports, and system-to-system data interfaces.
- Develop and maintain database functions using Oracle and MS-SQL, including SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, views, and data troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain Windows and web-based applications using C#/.NET, ASP.NET, C++, and Python where required.
- Support MES implementation, deployment, system upgrades, enhancement projects, and production releases.
- Participate in Smart Factory, manufacturing automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Conduct system testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and production validation.
- Perform source code reviews, debugging, version control, and software maintenance activities.
- Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Maintain technical documentation, functional specifications, system configuration, test plans, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Equipment, Quality, IT, and other departments to understand operational requirements and implement effective solutions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users on MES functions and manufacturing system processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to improve productivity, quality, traceability, and system reliability.
- Perform any other MES-related or ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in MES, manufacturing IT, software development, automation, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience in MES development, implementation, enhancement, or production support.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as assembly, testing, material handling, production tracking, rework, quality control, and shipping.
- Proficiency in C#/.NET, ASP.NET, C++, and/or Python.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle and MS-SQL databases, including SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, packages, views, and database troubleshooting.
- Experience with MES and equipment/system integration.
- Knowledge of SECS/GEM, equipment interfaces, automation systems, or manufacturing communication protocols is preferred.
- Experience with Smart Factory, Industry 4.0, manufacturing automation, or digital transformation is an advantage.
- Experience with EDI, APIs, web services, or system-to-system integration is preferred.
- Good understanding of software development, debugging, testing, source code management, and deployment processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a production environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to support production issues and perform on-call or after-hours support when required.
Preferred Experience
- Semiconductor, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Experience with MES architecture and deployment.
- Experience with lot, wafer, panel, carrier, and material tracking systems.
- Experience integrating MES with equipment, automation, ERP, WMS, QMS, or other manufacturing systems.
- Experience with SECS/GEM, GEM300, EDA/Interface A, or similar semiconductor equipment communication standards.
- Experience developing manufacturing automation and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and complex database troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting production-critical MES applications in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
