Job Description

Responsibilities

The QAQC Engineer shall maintain QAQC SOP and Quality-related activities & inspections in the project to ensure compliance to Project and applicable Regulatory requirements and provide recommendations for improvements on Quality for construction projects such as Cleanroom & Mechanical Installation Works (ie. Welding & Pipefitting, Electrical works).

The job scope shall encompass the following:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures, checklists, and inspection plans throughout project lifecycle.

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, installation standards, and project plans to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

  • Conduct on-site inspections and audits of mechanical installation, cleanroom works, HVAC, piping, ducting, structural works, and equipment installation.

  • Perform quality inspections during critical phases — pre-installation, during installation, post-installation, pre-handover, and commissioning.

  • Identify non-conformances, document issues, coordinate with project team, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCR), test & inspection plans (TIP), and quality control logs.

  • Collaborate closely with Project Engineers, Site Supervisors, Contractors, Vendors, Clients, and Consultants to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.

  • Support and monitor subcontractor performance to ensure workmanship, materials, and site practices meet project quality requirements.

  • Assist in the coordination and oversight of commissioning, testing and cleanroom qualification (if applicable), and final handover.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, regulations, and company’s quality assurance protocols.

  • Provide training and guidance to site teams on QA/QC standards, site practices and quality expectations.

  • Any other adhoc project duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant hands-on experience in carrying out QA/QC checks for Welding and Pipefitting/Electrical works/CSA works, preferably Semiconductor/Pharmaceutical related industry.

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other equivalent qualifications, or QA/QC certifications such as TWI or CSWIP certificates as Certified Welding Inspector.

  • Must have valid CIDB SICW/e-SICW qualification.

  • Knowledge in Mechanical Installation, HVAC, Cleanroom, Ducting, Process Piping, and other M&E related systems.

  • Strong knowledge of inspection practices, non-conformance management, CAPA processes, and quality documentation.

  • Familiarity with relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g. ISO, GMP, cleanroom standards — if applicable).

  • Knowledgeable in construction policies and procedures, with field experience a must.

  • Good English communication skills and report writing skills.

  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Attentive to details, responsible and responsive with positive attitude.

  • Resourceful, and able to work independently with minimum supervision and a dedicated team player.

  • Able to conduct site checks regularly.

  • High reliability and integrity in handling confidential information.
