What The Role Is

You lead a team that develops the mid to long-term direction and strategy for National Education (NE) and Total Defence (TD).

What You Will Be Working On

  • Formulate and review National Education frameworks and initiatives to strengthen societal resilience
  • Explore innovative engagement approaches for National Education and Total Defence
  • Work with partners across government and the community to enhance whole-of-society commitment to defence
  • Support Nexus' international engagements to exchange perspectives and establish partnerships
  • Lead the team to develop and execute strategic plans and capability development efforts to ensure Nexus is well-positioned to achieve its strategic outcomes

    Challenge(s)
  • Keeping up-to-date with current affairs and understanding how issues related to National Education and Total Defence impact Nexus' work
  • Balancing Nexus' interests with that of partners while developing effective strategies that can help achieve strategic outcomes

What We Are Looking For

  • Education in Communication Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in policy-making or public communications, including at least 2 years in leading a team to deliver organisational strategic outcomes
  • Experience in strategic planning and capability development is advantageous
  • Strong interest in and understanding of national issues and current affairs
  • Strong command of clear written and spoken English
  • Good networking skills, critical thinking abilities, and adaptability
