Pantai Bharu began as a small construction company in Jalan Pantai Bharu, Kuala Lumpur, before transitioning into the auto-trading industry in 1978. Recognising the growth potential of the Malaysian automotive market, Pantai Bharu specialized in imported used and reconditioned vehicles, particularly from Japan. This early venture aligned with the New Economic Policy (NEP), a program aimed at fostering local business growth and economic restructuring in Malaysia.

Strategic Expansion and the Road to Automotive Leadership
In 1983, Pantai Bharu ventured into the national automotive scene by launching an EON Sales Dealership (now Proton Edar Sales Dealership) in Taman Berkeley, Klang. By 1991, the company secured land in Jalan Meru, Klang, establishing Bangunan Pantai Bharu, a significant milestone reflecting its steady expansion and growing influence.
