Pink Lady Development Pty Ltd (PLD) oversee the development of emerging market opportunities and provide a greater focus on product investment for Pink Lady™ apples to help the brand expand on its global success.

 

PLD is a joint venture company of Apple & Pear Australia Limited (APAL) and French based nursery company Star Fruits.  APAL is the peak industry body representing commercial apple and pear growers in Australia and is owner of the Pink Lady™  trade marks in more than 80 juridsictions. Star Fruits is a nursery company in France who holds the propagation rights for Cripps Pink and the Master Licence for Pink Lady™ trade marks across Europe. 

 

APAL has been driving the global development of the Pink Lady™ apple brand since the mid 1990s. The Pink Lady™ brand has achieved retail sales in excess of AU $1.5 billion dollars – making it one of the world’s most successful examples of the commercialisation of intellectual property in the fresh produce industry.

 

APAL licenses the right to use the trade marks to master licensees in major production and sales territories. In turn, master licensees issue licences to importers, exporters and other entities to use the trade marks. Disciplined trade ensures the brand value is maintained.

 

The Pink Lady™ brand is supported by a large international group who work together to create Pink Lady™ apples as a product that is “so much more than an apple”™.
