Tentang Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd

u200BSarawak Hidro Sendirian Berhad is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Minister of Finance Incorporated Malaysia established on 1 May 2000 with the objective of developing and managing the Bakun Hydroelectric Project in Central Sarawak on Borneo. There are three thrusts to the objective. The first – building Malaysia's largest hydropower dam – has been accomplished. The physical infrastructures were completed in 2010 and it began commercial generation of electricity in 2011.

 

The second thrust is to provide reliable, cost-effective and clean electricity at a competitive rate, especially for Sarawak and other parts of Borneo.

 

Beyond the basic function of efficient generation of electricity, in its third thrust, Bakun is envisioned to play a catalytic role in lifting Sarawak in particular and the country in general to the next level of development. With its massive output of energy, Bakun will be pivotal to the industrialisation plans of Sarawak by spurring the growth of new industries and revitalising rural areas while contributing to the transformation of economic and social development throughout the nation.
