Welcome to Miss Selfridge, the iconic British fashion brand that has been at the forefront of style since its inception in 1966 as the youthful fashion section of Selfridges department store in London. Acquired by ASOS in February 2021, Miss Selfridge is now a thriving online fashion destination.

Miss Selfridge got its name when Charles Clore, the visionary owner of Selfridges, drew inspiration from a window display in New York City's Bonwit Teller store showcasing "Miss Bonwit" dresses for teenagers. Launched across Selfridges and Lewis's stores in the UK, Miss Selfridge quickly became a fashion phenomenon. With concessions in department stores by 1967 and independent branches on the high street by 1969, the brand made a mark with its distinctive style.

The early mannequins, inspired by the iconic Twiggy, and paper dresses designed by Sylvia Ayton and Zandra Rhodes marked the beginning of Miss Selfridge's innovative journey. The brand collaborated with couturier Pierre Cardin, commissioning four exclusive collections a year.

In 1999, Arcadia Group, under the leadership of Sir Philip Green, acquired Miss Selfridge. The brand ventured into online retail in 2003, and despite fluctuations in profitability, it continued to be a fashion powerhouse within the Arcadia portfolio.

The winds of change swept through the fashion landscape in 2020 when Arcadia Group faced administration. ASOS stepped in, acquiring the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and HIIT brands on 1st February 2021. With a commitment to keeping 300 employees, ASOS ushered in a new era for Miss Selfridge, relaunching it exclusively on the ASOS website.
